Ella Langley honoured Dolly Parton during a Friday night concert in Auburn by performing a cover of Parton’s song “Jolene”. The tribute followed Langley’s view that the show would not have felt right without acknowledging Parton, reflecting the country icon’s influence on artists in the industry.

In an Instagram statement, Langley thanked Parton for her work as an artist, songwriter, musician, producer, author and creative, as well as for her advocacy for women. She said Parton had encouraged others to be brave and authentic, and described her as an irreplaceable figure whose death marked the loss of “a beautiful soul”.
