Tuchel cited England’s World Cup semi-final defeat by Argentina, when they led 1-0 but lost control and conceded twice late on, as evidence of the challenge. He suggested England may occasionally need to manage games more like Spain, while acknowledging that English football has traditionally favoured direct play, physicality and taking risks; he is now preparing for Nations League matches against Spain, Czechia and Croatia.
