Emmy Rossum has discussed the ending of Hulu's new crime thriller Furious, which wrapped its first season with a series of revelations linking FBI agent Alice Black to serial killer suspect Catherine Grace. The finale saw the pair's earlier, unexpected connection—forged during a chance encounter at a domestic violence shelter—come to a head at the mansion of businessman Jay Easton, whose apparent cardiac arrest was later confirmed by Catherine, from prison, to be no accident. With the show already renewed for a second season, Rossum's comments shed light on how the characters' bond was built and what it means for the story going forward.

In the interview, Rossum explained that the shelter scenes, in which Alice tells Catherine a rare true story about herself, were pivotal in establishing genuine intimacy between the two women despite Alice's undercover deception. She drew a comparison to the film Black Widow to describe the "two lonely people looking for connection" dynamic, and noted that Alice's comfort with lying paradoxically allows her to be truthful with Catherine. Rossum also touched on Alice's risky, self-destructive tendencies, the complications still facing her romance with Danny (Scoot McNairy), and the significance of a flash drive now in Alice's possession, all of which point towards a darker Season 2.
