Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom has filed a federal lawsuit against the Chicago Sky and related bodies after he was ejected from Wintrust Arena and banned indefinitely following a courtside altercation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud. Freedom claims he was exercising his First Amendment rights by wearing a T-shirt reading "WOMAN noun, adult human female" while attending a WNBA game against the Indiana Fever, and alleges he was discriminated against for his views on protecting women's sports from transgender participation. The case raises questions about free speech at sporting venues, fan conduct enforcement, and how leagues handle politically charged confrontations between spectators and players.

The lawsuit names Chicago Women's Basketball Operations LLC, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, and the City of Chicago as defendants, alleging they conspired to eject him unlawfully. According to the complaint, the incident occurred on 23 August, when Cloud allegedly ran towards Freedom shouting profanities after he celebrated a three-pointer by Fever player Sophie Cunningham; Freedom says he was also subjected to racial and vulgar abuse from other fans that went unpunished, while Cloud faced no ejection or league discipline. Sky owner Michael Alter has defended the club's handling of the incident, and Freedom's suit accuses him of mischaracterising what took place.
