## Key points

- Tuchel gave a combative post-match interview despite England's win.
- England beat Norway 2-1 to reach the World Cup semifinals.
- The manager dwelt on his team's mistakes rather than the victory.

## Summary

England manager Thomas Tuchel drew attention on social media following his side's 2-1 quarterfinal win over Norway, which secured their place in the World Cup semifinals. Rather than celebrating the result, Tuchel used his post-match interview with Fox Sports to focus on his team's errors and came across as combative towards the interviewer, prompting the clip to go viral.

The match was played on the Saturday referenced in the report, with England prevailing by a single goal. Beyond Tuchel's reaction, the surrounding coverage noted a highly anticipated quarterfinal duel between England's Harry Kane and Norway's Erling Haaland, alongside separate online criticism of Norway's decision to substitute Haaland off with their World Cup place at stake. The article itself offers limited further detail on the fixture, centring instead on the manager's demeanour during the interview.
