## Key points

- England beat Australia with seven tries.
- The win backed Borthwick after a difficult year.
- Pollock scored twice after replacing the injured Feyi-Waboso.

## Summary

England beat Australia emphatically at Allianz Stadium, scoring seven tries in a performance that offered strong support for head coach Steve Borthwick. After months of poor form and reports of tension between players and coaches, the win showed greater unity and attacking ambition, though tougher tests lie ahead.

England’s scorers were George, Chessum, Heyes, Van Poortvliet, Pollock twice and Spencer, with F Smith adding five conversions. Australia scored tries through Jorgensen, Daugunu and Williams, while Lonergan kicked a penalty. Pollock came on for the injured Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and impressed on the wing; England face New Zealand in a fortnight.
