Norwegian metal band Enslaved have announced their 17th studio album, titled "Mið," set for release on 30th October via Nuclear Blast Records. To mark the announcement, the veteran group has also released a new single, "Solar Will," continuing their recent shift towards more rock-centred material after a denser, more progressive period in the 2000s and 2010s.

Guitarist Ivar Bjørnson described the track as inspired by sun worship and mythology, while vocalist and bassist Grutle Kjellson explained that it draws on an archetypal Norse mythological rivalry, deliberately left unnamed to let listeners interpret the lyrics themselves. The five-minute song blends black metal, mid-tempo heavy metal and progressive rock, and follows the previously released single "Spirit Helper," which featured Kevin Kickin Woman.
