Enzo Maresca says Manchester City will not meet Chelsea’s deadline for Fernández
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has said the club will not submit a bid for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández before Chelsea’s 5pm Friday deadline. City remain interested in Fernández, who previously worked with Maresca, but the £120m valuation appears too high as Maresca focuses on Sunday’s Community Shield against Arsenal.
City are close to signing Lille’s 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi and may make further changes before the transfer window closes. Barcelona have had two bids rejected for Rodri, while Tijjani Reijnders is expected to join Al-Qadsiah for £51m; several other fringe players could also leave in pursuit of more regular football.
