- The Springboks face France and Ireland next.

## Summary

South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus said his gradual introduction of new players is strengthening the squad, after the Springboks beat Italy 66-7 in Turin. The result offered evidence that a wider group can step into the team calmly, a key aim as South Africa prepares to defend its Rugby World Cup title in 2027.

The Springboks scored nine tries and led 45-0 at half-time, despite missing several experienced players. Erasmus acknowledged errors in the second half and said the team must improve before facing France and Ireland over the next two weeks. South Africa conceded five penalties; lock Salmaan Moerat withdrew before the match with back spasms.
