Christian Eriksen will begin an individual rehabilitation programme in Denmark following his collapse during a friendly against Ukraine last month. The Denmark and Wolfsburg midfielder went down during the match in Odense on 7 June, which was stopped in the 65th minute and later abandoned, though he was able to walk from the pitch. The incident is significant because Eriksen previously suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 and has since played with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).

Eriksen, 34, said the latest episode "was a different situation from what happened in 2021" and that his ICD "did exactly what it was designed to do: protect me when I needed it", adding that he was "doing well" and at home with his family. Wolfsburg confirmed he would "shortly begin an individual rehabilitation programme", with managing director Dieter Hecking agreeing it should take place in Denmark, and said the club remained in regular contact with the player and his doctors. The former Tottenham, Inter Milan, Brentford and Manchester United player has been with Wolfsburg since September 2025, having resumed his career after the Premier League and Bundesliga — unlike Italy's Serie A — permit players with ICDs to compete.
