ESPN will trial a new "alumni alt-cast" for its ninth annual MLB Little League Classic on 23 August, offering viewers on ESPN2 an alternative broadcast featuring commentators with personal ties to Little League Baseball, alongside the main ESPN coverage. The move is the latest in ESPN's ongoing effort to attract younger and family audiences to marquee sporting events by experimenting with alternative broadcast formats, following past initiatives that used Disney characters such as Toy Story and Big City Greens, and a 2019 "kidscast" of the Little League World Series presented by teenagers.

The alumni broadcast will be helmed by play-by-play announcer Mike Monaco alongside analysts Todd Frazier and Devon Travis, calling the game on-site in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, as the Milwaukee Brewers face the Atlanta Braves at historic Bowman Field. The standard ESPN broadcast will feature Karl Ravech, Eduardo Pérez and Buster Olney, while special guests including former pitcher Lance Lynn and ex-NHL player Ray Ferraro, both of whom played in Williamsport as children, will join the alt-cast to share their own Little League memories. Producer Scott Gustafson said the format celebrates the shared roots of players who once competed in Williamsport, regardless of how far their careers later took them.
