Everton's Carabao Cup third-round tie against Wolves has been rescheduled just nine days before it was due to be played, after Uefa's Champions League fixture list created a clash. The match had been set for 9 September to avoid Liverpool and Everton playing home games on the same night, which is barred by Merseyside Police, but Uefa then confirmed Liverpool would host Atletico Madrid at Anfield that same date, forcing the EFL to move the Everton-Wolves fixture instead.

The Everton v Wolves game will now be played on Wednesday, 16 September, while Liverpool's cup tie with Tottenham has been brought forward a day to 15 September. Wolves' Championship fixture against Portsmouth has also been pushed back to 20 October as a result. The EFL apologised for the late change but said it had "no option", criticising Uefa's "unwillingness to co-operate", while Uefa said the conflict only became apparent after its fixtures were published and it was too late to amend them.
