Everton sign Grealish as Zirkzee stays at Man Utd

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

Everton have signed Manchester City winger Jack Grealish on a season-long loan, reuniting him with manager David Moyes after his successful spell at the club last season, but the Toffees have missed out on Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, who will remain at Old Trafford. The moves came on a busy deadline day for Everton as they also pursue additional attacking reinforcements and offload fringe players.

Grealish, 30, made 20 appearances for Everton in 2025-26 before a season-ending foot injury in January, scoring twice, providing six assists and winning the Premier League Player of the Month for August; he joined City from Aston Villa for £100m in 2021. Everton had targeted Zirkzee, 25, as a late option after Beto's permanent move to Fiorentina, and had already agreed a £40m fee with Monaco for striker Folarin Balogun, though a medical issue on deadline day left that deal unresolved. The club also agreed a £3m deal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon, while right-back Nathan Patterson has completed a permanent move to Torino.
