Netflix has cast the main roles for its upcoming television adaptation of Carley Fortune's romance novel "This Summer Will Be Different," with production now under way on Prince Edward Island. The series builds on the growing popularity of Fortune's work on screen, following the success of Prime Video's "Every Year After," an adaptation of her debut novel that was recently renewed for a second season. No release date has yet been set, as the show remains in the early stages of filming.

The main trio is led by Sophie Nélisse as Lucy Ashby, alongside Roby Attal and Francesca Reale as siblings Felix and Bridget Clark, with six further actors joining in recurring roles. The story follows Lucy as she rushes to support her best friend Bridget, who has cold feet before her wedding, while navigating a complicated romantic history with Bridget's brother Felix, whom she was warned never to fall for. Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart serve as showrunners and executive producers, with author Carley Fortune also involved in the production.
