HBO’s medical drama ‘The Pitt’ has been renewed for a third season, with its writers’ room already open and production expected to begin around June. The series is aiming to return in January 2027, maintaining the release pattern of its first two seasons and continuing its real-time, hospital-shift format.

Season 3 will be set on 12 November 2026, during Pittsburgh’s colder autumn weather, which is expected to shape emergency cases involving icy roads, heating systems, fires and homelessness. Noah Wyle says Dr Robby will be making fragile but positive progress through therapy, while six actors have joined the recurring cast; the show will also examine workplace conditions that could lead nurses towards strike action rather than depicting a full strike.
