‘Evil Dead Burn’ Review: A Deadly Good Entry in Horror’s Best Franchise

Collider · 1 month ago

Collider's Aidan Kelley has published a highly positive review of "Evil Dead Burn", the latest instalment in the long-running Evil Dead horror franchise, released on 8 July 2026. The film is the first of two sequels to 2023's commercially successful "Evil Dead Rise", and the reviewer concludes that it lives up to the series' reputation, describing it as a frightening, funny and worthy successor directed by Sébastien Vaniček.

The story follows Alice (Souheila Yacoub), a young French woman who, after her husband's accidental death, is forced to stay in a remote woodland house with grieving in-laws who blame her, before the group is attacked by the demonic Deadites. The review praises Yacoub's lead performance, the strong supporting ensemble (notably Tandi Wright), and thematic subtext around grief and abuse. Vaniček's direction, the blend of horror and comedy, and the largely practical effects are all commended, with the choppy cold-open editing cited as a rare weak point and a slight increase in CGI noted but dismissed as a minor issue.
