‘Evil Dead Burn’ Sets Rotten Tomatoes Ablaze With Fiery Debut

Collider · 3 hours ago

The fourth Evil Dead film, Evil Dead Burn, has drawn strong early reviews ahead of its cinema release this Friday, 10 July, currently holding a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 51 critics. This matters because it is the first of two planned standalone follow-ups to 2023's Evil Dead Rise, and the positive reception suggests the horror franchise's revival remains on solid footing.

Directed by Infested's Sébastien Vaniček, the film follows Alice (Soheila Yacoub), a grieving widow who reunites with her late husband's family at their remote country home, only for each member to be transformed into a demonic Deadite. Reviews have been largely favourable: Collider's Aidan Kelley gave it 8/10, praising its depth and unforgettable third act, while Screen Rant's Jordan Williams awarded 7/10 despite a slightly weak script. Not all were won over, however, with MovieWeb's Julian Roman dismissing it as a "gruesome and unforgiving technical exercise in mindless carnage".
