Former television presenter Russell Harris and his wife Jannette have put their converted Victorian water tower home in Lymm, Cheshire, on the market for £3million, more than two decades after transforming the derelict structure into an award-winning family residence. The couple bought the abandoned 90ft-tall tower for £138,000 in 1997 and spent seven years and over £1million converting it, creating a striking contemporary property that was later selected by Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud as one of his top 100 projects, despite never featuring on the Channel 4 show itself.

The five-storey, Grade II listed property offers more than 6,000 sq ft of living space, including a double-height main bedroom, four further bedrooms, a cinema room, gym and sauna, plus a rooftop garden with an eight-person hot tub and 360-degree views towards Manchester, Liverpool and the Welsh hills. A notable perk for any buyer is roughly £75,000 a year in passive income from telecoms companies leasing space inside the tower. The couple previously tried to sell the home in 2016 for £2.5million, but the sale fell through and they chose to stay on rather than relist it at the time.
