Former Disney chief executive Bob Chapek blames his 2022 dismissal on his predecessor, Bob Iger, in a forthcoming memoir. Chapek says Iger deliberately undermined his leadership after appointing him, arguing that his removal reflected sabotage rather than failures in his own performance.

Chapek led Disney for less than three years, during which he faced criticism over management decisions, a dispute with Scarlett Johansson, Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ legislation and a reported $1.5 billion quarterly streaming loss. Iger, who remained executive chairman after stepping down in 2020, returned as CEO following Chapek’s dismissal; Chapek also credits himself with helping Josh D’Amaro, Disney’s current chief executive, rise through the company.
