Danny Amendola, a former New England Patriots wide receiver and two-time Super Bowl champion, has said it would be "crazy" if his old quarterback Tom Brady failed to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his first attempt, after coach Bill Belichick was surprisingly overlooked for first-ballot induction. Belichick's snub has raised fresh questions about how voters might treat other major figures from the Patriots' dynasty era, including Brady, once he becomes eligible.

Belichick, widely regarded as one of the most successful coaches in NFL history, did not receive enough votes this year to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, despite his extensive list of coaching achievements. Amendola, who played for the Patriots during part of their championship run, expressed disbelief that a figure as decorated as Belichick could be passed over, and suggested it is difficult to imagine Brady, the most decorated quarterback in NFL history, facing a similar fate when his own Hall of Fame case is considered.
