Ex-Pineapple Street Pair Launch New Podcast Shingle, Set Projects With Dan Taberski, Amy Poehler & Patrick Radden Keefe

Deadline · 1 month ago

Two former senior executives of Pineapple Street Studios have launched a new podcast production company, Please and Thanks Productions, roughly a year after the acclaimed studio was shut down following the bankruptcy of its owner, Audacy. Joel Lovell, previously Executive Editor, and Henry Molofsky, an Executive Producer, were both at Pineapple Street from its 2016 founding until its closure, and their new venture signals continued momentum for narrative documentary podcasting at a time when fewer companies are investing in the format.

The new company's debut project is Dan Taberski's six-part series Manifesto!, made with Amazon's Audible Originals, in which the host attempts to reclaim the concept of the manifesto from mass shooters. Please and Thanks has also partnered with Amy Poehler's Paper Kite Productions on an investigative documentary audio series, sold to Universal Studio Group Audio and expected to launch in 2027, as well as with author Patrick Radden Keefe on a music-focused audio documentary drawing on his investigative reporting. The founders said their belief is that audience appetite for high-quality audio storytelling has never gone away, even as business models have shifted.
