Executive Turntable: Valeisha Butterfield Joins Guitar Center Music Foundation As CEO & Executive Director
Valeisha Butterfield has been named CEO and executive director of the Guitar Center Music Foundation, taking on the role as part of Billboard's regular "Executive Turntable" round-up of music industry appointments. The move marks a return to a familiar sphere for Butterfield, who previously held senior leadership roles at The Recording Academy and Google, and it positions her to shape the foundation's charitable and educational work supporting music access for young people.
Butterfield most recently served as co-president of The Recording Academy alongside Harvey Mason Jr., having first joined in 2020 as its inaugural chief officer of diversity and inclusion after leaving Google, where she was global head of inclusion; she returned to Google as vice president of partnerships before rejoining the Academy for a year as co-president. In her new post she will work alongside the Guitar Center Music Foundation's board, including chair Curtis Heath, who cited her combination of non-profit leadership, music industry experience and operational expertise. The same Billboard round-up also notes The Neal Agency's new representation partnership with WIN Artists and Alissa Pollack's promotion to president of Mediabase at RSC Worldwide.
