The Football Association has begun its standard post-tournament review of England men's World Cup campaign, which will include gathering feedback directly from players who featured at the finals. The exercise, routinely carried out after every major tournament, comes amid reports that several senior players privately questioned head coach Thomas Tuchel's tactical decisions during the semi-final defeat by Argentina, giving the review added significance.

Tuchel and his coaching staff have already met at St George's Park to begin unpacking the campaign, with a fuller report due later. At least three senior players are understood to have raised concerns about Tuchel's overly defensive substitutions and set-up as England let slip a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1, while the review will also examine the impact of basing the squad permanently in Kansas City throughout the tournament. Despite this, England went on to beat France in the third-place play-off, their best World Cup showing since winning it in 1966, and the FA continues to back Tuchel ahead of Euro 2028 qualifying and September's Nations League fixtures against Spain, the Czech Republic and Croatia.
