Man jailed for life after armed attempt to enter Israeli embassy in London

Daily Mail ·

Abdullah Albadri, a 34-year-old Kuwait-born failed asylum seeker, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years after attempting to breach London's Israeli embassy armed with two 4-inch knives on 28 April 2025. He was stopped by armed diplomatic protection officers as he scaled an 8ft metal fence outside the embassy in Kensington. The court convicted him of preparation of terrorist acts after hearing evidence from police and security personnel.

Albadri had twice entered the UK illegally via small boats in 2021 and April 2025 before his asylum claims were refused. CCTV showed him walking from Kilburn to the embassy with his face covered before attempting to scale the fence, where armed officers found two red-handled 4-inch knives and a "martyrdom note" on him. He claimed the knives were for personal protection whilst homeless and denied intending any violence, but the prosecution presented evidence of his clear intent to breach the embassy grounds through his actions and statements. The sentence was adjusted to 18 years and 207 days accounting for time served on remand.

The Israeli embassy in London is a government building representing the state of Israel. On 28 April 2025, a man attempted to scale the fence surrounding the embassy in Kensington with two large knives, but armed security officers stopped him before he could breach the perimeter.

Abdullah Albadri is a Kuwait-born man who arrived in Britain illegally by small boat on two separate occasions—in 2021 and again in April 2025. His asylum applications were refused both times, leaving him without legal permission to remain in the country.

Attempted breaches at embassies are treated as serious security incidents in Britain. The case touches on wider questions about asylum policy, immigration enforcement, and how security services assess potential threats.
