Family of Dolly Parton confirm singer’s funeral has taken place

Far Out · 4 hours ago

The family of Dolly Parton has confirmed that the country music star's funeral took place on 28th August, three days after her death aged 80 following a brief battle with cancer. The private ceremony reflected the close-knit family life the singer maintained throughout her career, with relatives sharing personal tributes in the days that followed.

Parton's niece, Lainey Parton, wrote on Instagram that she waited until after her "granny" was laid to rest to share her feelings, describing her aunt as someone who treated nieces and nephews like her own children. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who first announced her death, said she was now reunited with her late husband Carl Dean and her parents. Goddaughter Miley Cyrus also paid tribute, while separately Tennessee governor Bill Lee backed a successful petition, signed by more than 160,000 people, to rename Nashville International Airport in Parton's honour, though final approval is still pending.
