Fans Suspect DC’s Official Wonder Woman Replacement Has Been Revealed

Polygon · 1 hour ago

Rumours are swirling among DC fans that actor Adria Arjona has secretly been cast as Wonder Woman in James Gunn's upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, rather than the relatively obscure character Maxima as originally reported. Speculation intensified after a Women's Health video showed Arjona describing an intense boxing and weightlifting regimen for the role while carefully avoiding naming the character, with fans arguing her evident enthusiasm suggests a bigger part than the lesser-known Maxima. If confirmed, this would mark a significant moment for the DC Universe, effectively naming Arjona as the on-screen successor to Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.

Man of Tomorrow is due for release on 9 July 2027 and will see David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult reprise their roles as Superman and Lex Luthor, alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Milly Alcock and Isabela Merced, among others. Aaron Pierre joins as John Stewart/Green Lantern, with Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard and Sinqua Walls cast in undisclosed roles. DC Studios is also reportedly developing a separate standalone Wonder Woman film, said to be written by Ana Nogueira, meaning it remains unclear whether Man of Tomorrow or that project would introduce the character first.

  • Fans suspect Adria Arjona is secretly playing Wonder Woman, not Maxima.
  • Cryptic workout video fuelled speculation about her true DCU role.
  • Man of Tomorrow, out July 2027, could reveal Gadot's on-screen successor.
