Fashion entrepreneur denies murder after pedestrian dies in court drive-by
Fashion entrepreneur Shakaine Dwyer allegedly drove his Mercedes on to the pavement outside Willesden Magistrates’ Court, killing pedestrian Ruben Nunes, after being threatened by a man with a gun. Prosecutors told the Old Bailey that Dwyer was fleeing gang member Gregory Ejiofor, but argue his high-speed driving caused Nunes’s death.
The court heard that Dwyer, 29, was travelling at up to 54mph along a narrow cul-de-sac when he struck Nunes, 34, who was walking back to his car. Prosecutors said telematics showed Dwyer accelerated as he approached Nunes and did not brake decisively; the car then hit a parked vehicle. Dwyer denies murder, while Ejiofor, 31, denies possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
