Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has filed a court motion seeking permission to leave Texas to attend seven of his son's games this season, despite being on probation for driving while intoxicated. The request, lodged on Friday in the 7th District Court in Tyler, Texas, would allow him to travel to games in Kansas City, Las Vegas and Cincinnati, though it comes with conditions including urinalysis testing before and after each trip and mandatory notification to his supervising officer.

Mahomes Sr. pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in 2024 and received five years of probation, which was extended by two years after he was arrested in February 2026 for violating its terms by drinking alcohol. His motion states he has since completed 16 weeks of outpatient treatment and 160 hours of community service, and that he remains compliant with all current conditions, including wearing an ankle monitor. Meanwhile, his son is expected to feature when the Chiefs open their season against the Denver Broncos in Week 1, having recovered from December knee surgery without appearing in any preseason games.
