The FBI has released new age-progression images of Thayne Alan Smika, who is accused of killing former University of Colorado student and roommate Sidney Lee Wells in Boulder in 1983. The appeal seeks public assistance in locating Smika, who authorities say has avoided arrest for more than four decades.

Wells was found shot dead in his apartment on 1 August 1983. The updated images show how Smika may look now, reflecting investigators’ effort to generate new leads in a long-unsolved homicide case.
