Female cop looks glassy-eyed in mugshot after she allegedly drove drunk wrong way down road and crashed into car

Daily Mail ·

A Detroit homicide detective, Lariah Stevens, 32, has been charged following an incident on 10 September in which she allegedly drove an unmarked police vehicle the wrong way down Vernier Road in Harper Woods, Michigan whilst intoxicated, before crashing into another car and walking away from the scene. Surveillance footage captured the collision, and police arrived approximately eight minutes later. Stevens was arrested after a breath test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.19, more than twice Michigan's legal limit, and now faces three criminal charges related to the incident.

Stevens pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on 30 September, with a judge setting her bond at $1,000 and ordering her not to consume alcohol or illegal drugs or possess firearms. The collision resulted in no significant injuries as each vehicle carried only one occupant. Despite being off-duty at the time, Detroit Police confirmed they are investigating; Stevens has been placed on administrative duty and "no gun" status whilst the review continues, with a court date set for 26 October.
