Fifa has extended a worldwide ban on a former SCR Altach employee and match official who was found guilty of secretly filming and photographing members of the Austrian club's women's team, including minors, in changing rooms, showers and the gym between 2018 and 2025. The move follows a request from the Austrian players' union and global players' union Fifpro, after a domestic court ruling in February drew criticism for imposing only a suspended sentence and modest fines, with national football bans previously limited to the country where they were issued.

A regional court in Feldkirch, Austria, gave the man a seven-month suspended prison sentence, a €1,200 (£1,046) fine, and ordered him to pay each victim €625 (£545) in compensation; that sentence provoked outrage in Austria. Fifa's disciplinary committee widened the ban globally on 4 August, and it became final after the man did not challenge the decision in time. The case has drawn parallels with that of former FC Slovacko coach Petr Vlachovsky, convicted in May 2025 of similar offences and possession of child sexual abuse material, for whom the Czech players' union is seeking a lifetime global ban.
