Supporters of Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham held a rally outside the Minnesota Lynx’s game at Target Center, advocating restrictions on transgender participation in women’s sport. Pro-transgender counterprotesters also attended, with one allegedly making an offensive remark about supporters and another labelling a women’s sports apparel company a “hate group”.

The demonstration was the second Cunningham-related rally in Minnesota, following her public support for excluding biological males from women’s and girls’ sport. Softball player Kendall Kotzmacher said she recognised one counterprotester from an earlier rally, where she alleged he made a similar remark; Cunningham said she was not involved in organising the events but supported attendees’ right to free speech.
