Finite Films & TV has unveiled a new six-part comedy series, Nuclear Children, at the Edinburgh Television Festival, adapted from writer Ezra England's debut stage play. The project, co-developed with Platform Presents, is now being shopped to broadcasters and streamers at the festival and the neighbouring Edinburgh Fringe, a launchpad that previously helped identify hits such as Baby Reindeer.

The series follows 18-year-old Isla Sparrow, who, after her father dies in a submarine accident, hopes to escape her grieving family for university but instead fails her exams and remains trapped in her strange hometown. England's original play won the 2021 Platform Presents Playwriting Prize and appeared at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe; England has also acted in Star Wars: Andor and Unforgotten. Finite Films & TV is led by former ITV executive Ben McGrath and founder Amy Gardner, whose respective credits include Trackers and The Settlers, and the show joins a wider Finite slate of adaptations from plays, operas and literary works.
