## Key points

- Fabio’s voice drew early inspiration from Scar in *The Lion King*.
- Jimmy Yamaguchi used a mid-Atlantic style for the character.
- The actor says fans’ response meant a great deal to him.

## Summary

Actor Jimmy Yamaguchi says he initially based Fabio’s voice in *Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave* on Jeremy Irons’ performance as Scar in Disney’s *The Lion King*. The connection helps explain the character’s distinctive, condescending delivery, which has become part of Fabio’s appeal to players.

Yamaguchi described Fabio’s accent as broadly mid-Atlantic, shaped by someone who has lived in several places. He tested the voice using Scar’s line about being “first in line” before Simba’s birth, and said fans’ warm response to his performance moved him deeply. The game is available for Nintendo Switch 2.
