Firefighters are continuing to tackle a large wildfire near Grimethorpe Nature Reserve in South Yorkshire for a second day, after it began on Tuesday afternoon. The incident has required an overnight response and remains significant because it has affected a large area, with an investigation into its cause planned once the fire is out.

Crews were called shortly after 15:00 BST to fires near the A6195 Park Spring Road and on Springvale Road. Up to 14 fire crews attended at the height of the operation, while four remained at the scene; the fire service said what were initially thought to be two separate incidents were in fact one blaze.
