President Donald Trump will host 9/11 first responders and officials at the White House on 8 September, where a 21-foot steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center's South Tower will be put on display. The event forms part of wider commemorations marking the anniversary of the 2001 attacks, with the administration also planning ceremonies at the Pentagon, Ground Zero in New York and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, covering all three locations affected that day.

The beam, weighing 16,900lbs, is being brought to the White House Ellipse by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation as part of its "Steel Across America" tour, which has already visited 21 states. Trump and foundation chairman Frank Siller are expected to speak at the event, while Vice President JD Vance travels to the World Trade Center site and other officials represent the administration in Shanksville. The foundation, founded in memory of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, is also marking the anniversary by delivering 343 mortgage-free homes this year, one for each firefighter lost on 9/11.
