Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory has spoken candidly about his often turbulent relationship with frontman Ivan Moody, revealing that despite dark humour about wanting to "kill" his bandmate, the pair remain "brothers" who understand how to work together. The remarks, made in a new Metal Hammer interview, shed light on the volatile dynamics behind one of modern metal's most successful yet unpredictable bands, whose history has included onstage meltdowns and internal disputes over controversial band decisions.

Bathory said he has never considered disbanding the group or firing Moody, describing the singer as "the middle finger of this generation" and admiring his uncompromising, "uncorruptible" nature even when it makes him difficult to manage. He joked about darkly plotting revenge against Moody and suspecting the feeling is mutual, while also acknowledging past tensions, including Moody's objection to a 2020 "anti-mask" music video Bathory directed. The interview, tied to the promotion of the band's tenth album Legacy, also saw Bathory reflect on the stress of running the band over its 20-plus year career, though he said he would change nothing.
