Flipper Devices, the company behind the RFID-hacking gadget Flipper Zero, has released the Busy Bar, a $250 physical desk device that displays a bright "BUSY" sign to signal when its owner should not be interrupted. Announced in 2025 with sales beginning in June, the small device doubles as a productivity timer and works alongside existing smartphone focus modes, aiming to offer a more tangible, harder-to-ignore alternative to software-based "do not disturb" settings.

The device, roughly the size of a sunglasses case, can display alternative messages such as "KEEP OUT", "OUT TO LUNCH" or "LOW SOCIAL BATTERY", and also functions as a digital clock. It features tactile physical switches for controlling timers and settings, can sync via Bluetooth to mute phone notifications, and is Matter-certified so it can trigger smart home devices such as lights or blinds. Flipper's CEO, Pavel Zhovner, reportedly conceived the idea to stop colleagues barging into his office, though WIRED's reviewer found it only partially effective in an open-plan office, where colleagues largely ignored it, and rated it 8/10 overall.
