## Key points

- Nine people died when a Learjet crashed near Greenacres.
- The crash damaged a road and nearby infrastructure.
- Nearly 600 residents have been displaced during the investigation.

## Summary

A Learjet 60 crashed near Greenacres, Florida, on Sunday, killing all nine people on board. The impact caused a large fire and crater, damaged nearby infrastructure and forced residents from a neighbouring mobile home community to leave while authorities investigate and make repairs.

Residents said the impact shook their homes, cut power briefly and sent smoke and emergency sirens across the area. Officials said nobody on the ground was hurt, but nearly 600 residents need temporary accommodation, and the damaged road may remain closed for around a month. Air traffic control recordings indicate the jet was flying in poor weather, with precipitation and turbulence reported shortly before the crash; investigators are examining the wreckage.
