Fontaines D.C. have shared a 30-second preview of forthcoming single ‘Marianne’ and indicated that their fifth studio album is in development. The teaser continues the band’s recent heavier, industrial-leaning sound, while an Instagram post captioned “5.” appears to confirm a follow-up to 2024’s ‘Romance’.

The Dublin band first performed ‘Marianne’ live in Cádiz on 8 August, alongside another unreleased track, ‘Six Shot Morning’, which has a more spacey, synth-led feel. They have been discussing new writing since last year and will play European dates before headlining Reading & Leeds and Ireland’s Electric Picnic later this month, following their return to performing after manager Trevor Dietz’s death.
