Fontaines DC share cinematic video for ‘Marianne’

Far Out · 2 hours ago

Fontaines DC unveiled a visually striking music video for their new single 'Marianne' on August 18th, marking the band's first release from their upcoming fifth studio album. The video, helmed by acclaimed director David Meyers—known for his work on prominent music videos for Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar—showcases the band's distinctive psychedelic aesthetic through surreal and visceral imagery. The band announced that 'Dopamine Chamber' will arrive on October 16th, continuing their evolution in artistic expression following their 2024 album.

The song carries personal significance for the Irish band, as its release was motivated by their late manager Trevor Dietz, who passed away in June. According to bassist Conor Deegan, 'Marianne' had been cut from the initial songwriting sessions, but Dietz's enthusiastic response prompted the band to reconsider and eventually release it as their lead single. In addition to the video premiere, the group also unveiled footage from what marks the final live session ever recorded at the BBC Radio 6 Music studio at Maida Vale in London.
