## Summary

Harry Kane won the Ballon d’Or at a ceremony in London, completing a remarkable rise from a teenage loanee at Leyton Orient to one of football’s leading players. The award recognises his sustained success for Bayern Munich and England, and caps a career in which he overcame doubts that his early goalscoring form would last.

Kane scored on his first senior start for Orient in a 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in January 2011, aged 17, while on loan from Tottenham. After scoring 31 goals in the 2014-15 season, he continued to score regularly over the following 11 seasons; at the ceremony, he gave a lengthy speech thanking those who had supported him and described the win as a dream.
