For Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Everyday on ‘Sterling Point‘ Was the “Best Day Ever”
Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, star of the new Prime Video series Sterling Point, has spoken to The Hollywood Reporter about landing his biggest role to date and what it meant for his career. The 23-year-old, who is of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation heritage and grew up on a reserve in Quebec, began acting a decade ago after his mother spotted a Facebook casting call for an Indigenous, French-speaking child actor. The Megan Park-created show marks his breakthrough into English-language productions after years working primarily in French-Canadian television and film.
In Sterling Point, Whiteduck-Lavoie plays Ellis, a Canadian teenager caught in the show's central love triangle alongside newcomer Annie, played by Ella Rubin. He described particular excitement at working alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays his on-screen father, having grown up a fan of The Walking Dead. The actor also praised the close bond formed with fellow cast members Amélie Hoeferle, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Keen Ruffalo and Mabel Strachan, none of whom knew each other before filming began, alongside executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
