Lucasfilm Publishing has announced several Star Wars books for the franchise’s 50th anniversary in 2027, with a strong focus on stories connected to the original trilogy. Despite the headline, Disney is not remaking the films themselves; the principal “remake” is a graphic-novel retelling of A New Hope from multiple characters’ viewpoints.

– Star Wars: A New Hope: Triple Take, due in May 2027 from Mad Cave Studios, retells the first film through Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo, with each version illustrated by different artists.
– Star Wars: Twin Crossroads, by Beth Revis, will explore Luke training Leia in the Force after the original trilogy, expanding on a period previously only lightly covered in current canon.
– Other announced projects include a story about Kylo Ren’s future and a prequel featuring the childhood friendship of Luke Skywalker and Biggs Darklighter.
