Michael Bay's 2022 heist thriller "Ambulance" has become an unexpected streaming hit on Netflix, resurging in popularity despite its underwhelming theatrical run. The film, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as robbers forced to hijack an ambulance after a heist goes wrong, is being highlighted as one of Bay's most underrated works, gaining traction alongside another of his productions, "The Last Ship."

"Ambulance" grossed just $52 million globally against a $40 million budget on release, but earned a respectable 68% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a strong 87% audience score. It has since found new life on streaming, climbing the VOD top 10 on both Prime Video and Apple TV in addition to its Netflix success. Separately, Bay-produced series "The Last Ship," starring the late Eric Dane, has also seen a resurgence on Netflix since all episodes were added in June 2026.
