Amazon's Prime Video has acquired the rights to the Tomb Raider franchise from Embracer Group in a reported $600 million deal, with Sophie Turner cast as Lara Croft in a new big-budget series following the success of Fallout. As fans await further details, streaming service Plex is offering a free alternative featuring Turner: the 2015 action film Barely Lethal, becoming available from 1 September.

The new Tomb Raider series boasts a strong supporting cast including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Paterson Joseph, with Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge serving as showrunner; no release date has been confirmed, though it is expected in 2027. Barely Lethal, an A24 production also starring Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba and Samuel L. Jackson, will stream free on Plex starting 1 September.
