Forget ‘Top Gun,’ Tom Cruise’s Breakout Hit Is Returning to Streaming 43 Years Later
Risky Business, the 1983 film widely regarded as Tom Cruise’s breakout role, will be available to stream on Paramount+ in August 2026. The return gives audiences another chance to watch the coming-of-age comedy-drama that helped establish Cruise as a major Hollywood star, before later successes such as Top Gun and Mission: Impossible.
Cruise plays Joel Goodsen, an American teenager whose life changes while his parents are away. Directed by Paul Brickman, the film is particularly associated with Cruise’s famous scene in a pink shirt, white briefs and socks; its streaming arrival comes 43 years after its original release.
