## Key points

- She also challenged Kelly Stafford’s comments on the Rams’ schedule.
- Cohn advised both to consider how their remarks might sound to others.

## Summary

Former ESPN presenter Linda Cohn criticised Brittany Mahomes and Kelly Stafford for recent public comments about the NFL. She said Mahomes’ complaint about referees after Kansas City’s loss could jar with fans who believe the Chiefs have benefited from officiating, while Stafford’s concerns about the Rams’ schedule may not resonate with ordinary supporters.

Mahomes objected to a false-start penalty on Jaylon Moore that ruled out a potential late go-ahead touchdown in the Chiefs’ 28-24 defeat by the Broncos, writing that officials seemed to call such penalties because “it’s us”. Stafford, whose husband Matthew plays for the Rams, said the team’s schedule allowed only 10 days between games against the Cardinals and Packers, and that even she needed a break. Cohn said both women could express opinions but advised them to consider how their remarks might sound to people with different lives.
