Former Sheffield Utd owners claim they are owed £35m
Sheffield United's former owners have filed a winding-up petition in the High Court against the club's current owners, COH Sports Bidco Limited (CSBL), claiming they are owed more than £35m, including interest. The former owners — United World, the investment company of Saudi Arabian Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud — allege they and the English Football League have been "seriously misled", raising questions about the ownership and stability of the Championship club.
United World, whose statement said COH Sports had effectively gained control of the club without paying the agreed sums, also disputed a recent board update naming 1919 Partners LLC as the parent company. COH Sports, led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, completed its takeover in December 2024. A 1919 Partners spokesperson said the dispute had no impact on day-to-day operations and that the club remained stable, while both the EFL and the Independent Football Regulator confirmed they were engaging with the parties involved.
