## Key points

- Playground Games confirms Forza Horizon 6's PS5 version is not delayed
- Still no confirmed release date, only "later this year"
- Tokyo Game Show (17–21 September) tipped as likely announcement venue

## Summary

Playground Games has confirmed that the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6 has not been delayed, rejecting rumours that had circulated for over a week after the studio went quiet on the console rollout. The clarification appeared as a brief line tucked into a blog post about the game's latest major update, stating that the PS5 version remains on track for release later in 2026, though still without a confirmed date or window; players can add it to their PlayStation Store wishlist to be notified when it becomes available. This matters because Horizon 6 has been a major commercial success since its May launch, and PlayStation players have had no clear indication of when they would be able to access it.

Speculation about a delay had built partly because Playground stopped discussing the PS5 version after Horizon 6's reveal at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, roughly a year ago, and TGS 2026 runs from 17 to 21 September, making it a likely venue for a firmer announcement given the game's Japan setting. Horizon 6 has sold millions of copies and remains among the most-played titles on PC and Xbox, and was recently estimated to be Steam's highest-grossing new release of 2026, netting Valve around $210.5m. Given Forza Horizon 5's strong performance on PS5, expectations are high that Horizon 6 will perform similarly well once it launches on Sony's platform.
